Patrick Ngunjiri v Farida Karoney- Cabinet Secretary,
Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning & another; Law Society of Kenya
& another (Interested Parties) [2021] eKLR
The CS Ministry of Lands and Physical
Planning has been directed to set phase re-opening of both Nairobi District and
Central Land Registries otherwise known as Ardhi House and render Land Registry
services to the members of the public in a manner that is efficient,
responsive, prompt, and effective but without compromising on Covid-19 health
Protocols.
In a constitutional petition
filed by lawyer Patrick Ngunjiri, the petitioner had complained of denied and
or delayed services by the Land Registry at Ardhi House Nairobi in
contravention with the Constitution of Kenya 2021 and other laws. The
petitioner had also complained of the lack of public participation in the
closure of the Land Registry Nairobi.
Following the judgement and orders issued by Justice A. Makau, we trust that the Land Registry Nairobi will now render efficient, responsive, prompt, and effective services to the people in compliance with the Constitution of Kenya 2021 and other laws.
